June 7-9, 2002 Midwest Region Conference News Ron/Ruth Nester and Rudy/Glenda Haefner left Friday 1:00 AM from Hiawatha, KS to Sioux Falls, SD and found ourselves in S.F. two hours earlier, but it gave us a nice well-rest at Good Samaritan Center, the beautiful campus, where the Midwest Region ILDA (Deaf Lutheran)conference was held on June 7-9, 2002. The Center provided 54 of us meals, lodging and the state-of-the-art meeting classroom and Board meeting room so that it might continue to serve as a place and rest where people can focus on God's Word. Trinity Luth Church for the Deaf did a remarkable job in hosting. They made the registration button badges with the digital camera, computer and the badge maker machine.
Friday the awesome CSD tour on SD Deaf School campus. I was so surprised to see Tim Rarus working there. We talked shortly, he moved to SD from TX last Oct. & showed me a picture of his family. He has 2 boys and another is on the way. We toured at Falls Park on the Big Sioux River and took the trolley ride around the Historic Downtown SF. We went to another CSD/Deaf Club Center.
The Board meetings Friday morning and night. The workshops hosted by 9 pastors did a fine job presenting topic; conflict resolution ideas, "Values,Visions and Missions" and did their excellent Power Point presentations which we have learned the real values, visions and missions of being Christians. The members lift the officers of the MWR ILDA to continue another term until 2004 and promise their support and positive attitude to spread the good news of the Lord.
